Thijs flipped the script entirely and traded his settled life for a self-built camper and the freedom of being on the road. Yet he stayed connected to Astrolads, just on his own terms. From various places in the world he now supports the team with advertising, finance and a weekly dose of exercise.

About Thijs

Thijs worked for years as a physiotherapist and had been involved with the organisation for a while as Jelle and Dave's freelance personal trainer. After a serious accident, however, Thijs realised that deep down he had another big passion he no longer wanted to put off. Together with his wife he bought an old van, transformed it into a road-ready home-made camper, and set off into the world. Without a plan and without a finish line… just enjoying that beautiful floating ball we find ourselves on.

Together we looked for ways to shape Thijs' role within Astrolads in a way that fits his new lifestyle. Looking at which work could be done remotely, and his talent for accuracy and structure, Thijs now works as Media Maker Advertising, supporting Luuk in setting up and monitoring online campaigns, and as Finance Officer, keeping the (VAT) administration in order.

He also still calls in online every week to keep several colleagues fit and supple during an hour of personal training!

Outside Astrolads

As mentioned, Thijs is everywhere and nowhere, having given up his house and travelling the world with his wife. He's also brought several hobbies along on his travels. Thijs has been playing guitar since he was young, and still gets joy out of it on the road.

He also has a great passion for diving (in water, not at the tax office), for which his travels naturally bring him to the most beautiful spots. On top of all that, he genuinely enjoys running, climbing, swimming… sport in general! Thijs is characterised by a positive, energetic mindset that's always looking for what is possible!
