About Bas

Bas joined the student media team and quickly stood out within his group. Because where one creative bounces around and always takes centre stage, Bas is someone who enters the creative process calmly and excels from there.

Because Bas isn't easily rattled and has the long-distance breath to guide any process well, he's a natural in his role as Student Supervisor. After finishing his studies, he went on to a HBO filmmaking programme and started working with us to supervise the new group of students and pass on the skills he had learned. From guidance on shoot days to making sure everyone arrives on time, Bas makes sure every student tries to get the best out of themselves and learns more from practice in 6 months than they would have in 4 years of theory.

Alongside his work as a supervisor, Bas is also increasingly in front of the camera as Media Maker Video. In this role, Bas does street interviews and presents in front of the greenscreen. Without hesitation he approaches people to question them or put a dilemma to them.

Bas is a stable factor in the team, who at the same time brings humour and a sense of lightness!

Outside Astrolads

Bas has had a passion for filmmaking from a young age. It was the foundation of his study choice, but is also a hobby he happily pursues in his free hours. He's also often (though he'd like to be more often) found in running shoes. In 2026 this hobby was sealed with his first real medal in the 10km of the CPC run in The Hague.

And when the running and camera batteries are empty, Bas puts his feet up and fires up the PlayStation. Alone or with friends, saving some innocent civilians or blasting zombies never hurts!
