Trusted knowledge on charging infrastructure for policymakers and businesses

Trusted knowledge on charging infrastructure for policymakers and businesses

The Netherlands is a global frontrunner in charging infrastructure for electric mobility. The transition to electric transport brings everything together here: (sustainable) energy, infrastructure, technology, circularity, science, and international coordination. The National Knowledge Platform for Charging Infrastructure (NKL) has been the central place for trusted knowledge on this topic for years.

NKL Nederland

Municipalities across the country are busy planning, realising and maintaining charging infrastructure, so that residents and businesses can make sustainable choices, now and in the future. This requires collaboration between government, businesses, grid operators, science and residents. Within this broad ecosystem of electric mobility, NKL is the central independent place. How do you make sure that the wealth of knowledge produced by the institute's experts is understood by the target audience, and that they actually act on it? For 7 years we have been helping NKL translate this knowledge to the audience, through ongoing social content, video, interactive webinars and more.

Astrolads means 'music'. Guaranteed. They surprise you, time after time. With fresh, original ideas, enthusiastic collaboration, tireless approach, striking visuals with resonant impact.

Social media for NKL Nederland by Astrolads

Social media

Year-round attention for valuable knowledge

When a knowledge article is published it usually gets a lot of attention right away. But not everyone is ready to act on it at that exact moment. That is why we make sure the wealth of knowledge available from the platform stays visible on social media throughout the year for the relevant audiences. This way a handbook is not a one-off, but creates lasting impact — and keeps reminding people to actually use it.

Video

Video reports and in-depth aftermovies

Video is a much-used medium at NKL. At the yearly Future of Charging congress we capture the message and lessons of the year from the many stakeholders involved, through an in-depth aftermovie. We also produce reports to bring the many research projects to life and give a behind-the-scenes look at charging in the Netherlands.

Animation

Storytelling for the yearly Future of Charging congress

Future of Charging has grown into the yearly event around charging, where the entire sector comes together. Next to in-depth aftermovies afterwards, we provide promotion in the run-up and storytelling on the day itself, through animation videos and loop videos that are shown on the large screens at the venue.

Webinar

Interactive Knowledge Shows

Interaction adds an extra dimension to knowledge. Viewers of the NKL Knowledge Shows can ask speakers questions live about newly published information. Speakers join in our studio with a view of the Grote Markt in The Hague, or call in remotely for maximum flexibility. A talkshow-style round-table conversation, with space for presentations. A big plus: the shows remain valuable content afterwards and continue to be watched throughout the year.

Charging in Europe (2019): putting European interoperability on the global map

Driving electric across borders should be just as easy for travellers as it is in their own country. To put the importance of European interoperability in the spotlight, in 2019 we made a documentary around EVS32 in Lyon, the world's largest event on electric mobility. The goal: tell the story with a fresh new tone that also appeals to audiences less familiar with the topic. Jelle and Dave set off vlogging in a car towards Lyon to experience first-hand how charging infrastructure across Europe holds up. It turned into quite the adventure. Alongside the documentary, parts of the journey were shared online throughout the event, drawing a lot of attention to the topic. A remarkable follow-up: the attention around the documentary led Google, all the way from the United States, to ask us to produce an exclusive report on charging in Europe for them as well.
