Passing on stories from the Second World War to new generations

The Post-War Foundation brings personal stories from the Second World War to life by sending guest speakers, often children of experienced witnesses, to schools throughout the Netherlands. In the classroom they share powerful family stories about persecution, hiding and resistance, and make the impact of the war tangible for new generations.

Every new generation also calls for a new communication approach for the Post-War Foundation. How do you ensure that the core of the message lands with a new generation that consumes information and media in an entirely different way? To ensure the content matches the audience, we help create vertical videos that both capture the content and match the attention span and content preferences of students. A special collaboration where creative work can really make a difference.

Vertical videos of guest speakers inviting students to talk about the war and related themes at home too.

A guest lesson about the war period always has an impact on the participating students. It would therefore be great if they took the stories of guest speakers home as input for a conversation with their own family. However, it turned out that the home front often didn't even know the guest lesson had taken place, limiting the impact. That's why the Post-War Foundation developed a placemat that students take home. It invites them to talk with their family about the war and gather their family's stories. As a conversation starter we made vertical videos that bring the guest speaker's story into the living room.
